When You Let Go, God Moves in Big Ways
It’s funny how we hold onto things—sweaters stuffed in the closet, bags we plan to list on Poshmark “someday,” and things we tell ourselves we’ll wear again. But sometimes, holding on keeps us from making space for blessings.
Recently, I decided to finally let go. I gathered bags of sweaters and clothes that had been sitting for months, telling myself I’d “sell them later.” Instead, I donated them—a big bag to a recovery home for moms and children and a box of cozy winter sweaters to a single mom who had been searching for clothes for her kids.
And wouldn’t you know it—that very same evening, one of my coworkers sent me a photo of my consignment rack at the salon. “Two ladies came and wiped out your rack!” she said.
My heart swelled. I had just paid daycare for the month and covered my salon rent, and of course, my mind had already started calculating how I was going to make it all work again, especially with the holidays coming up. But God… God reminded me once again that I never need to worry when I trust Him fully.
That’s how He works. He shows up when you release control—when you give freely without expecting anything in return.
There’s a reason I offer flash sales on facials every once in a while. Because everyone deserves self-care, no matter what their budget looks like. I see so many posts in esthetician groups saying, “Don’t sell yourself for less than your worth.” But I don’t believe generosity diminishes worth. I believe it multiplies it.
Maybe that’s why I’ve been blessed in this work. I refuse to follow the status quo. I follow what feels right. I do my best to follow God’s will for me, not my own.
So this season, as we step into the spirit of giving, remember this: we reap what we sow. When we give with open hands, God fills them again in ways we could never imagine.
If you feel inspired to clear out and let go of your own piles that have been collecting, please reach out and let me know if you feel a tug to help out a local non-profit. I know a number of places that all support different causes. Let’s enter this season of giving in full force!
